Privacy policy

Minturn Money ("Minturn," "we," "us," or "our") is an envelope-budgeting application operated by Rocky Mountain Apps. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Minturn mobile apps, web app, and website (together, the "Service").

Minturn is built to be private by design. Your budget lives on your device by default, and we never sell your personal information.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and an encrypted (hashed) password. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive a unique account identifier and, where you allow it, your name and email address from that provider. We use this only to create and secure your account.

Budget and financial data

The budgeting data you enter — envelopes, transactions, amounts, descriptions, labels, goals, recurring rules, and related settings — is stored locally on your device. If you use a paid plan with cloud sync, a copy of this data is stored on our servers so it can be backed up and synced across your devices. We do not connect to your bank accounts, and we do not have access to your card numbers or banking credentials.

Payment information

Purchases are processed by our payment providers — Stripe for web subscriptions, and Apple or Google (via RevenueCat) for in-app purchases on mobile. These providers handle your payment details directly under their own privacy policies; we receive only subscription status and limited billing metadata (such as plan, renewal date, and transaction identifiers). We never store your full card number.

Usage and analytics

We collect privacy-first usage information to understand how the Service is used and to improve it — for example, session counts, feature adoption, and general engagement metrics. This analytics data does not include your transaction amounts or other sensitive financial figures. Detailed behavioral event logs are kept on your device only and are automatically deleted after 90 days.

Technical information

To operate securely, we process standard technical data such as IP address, device and browser type, and request logs. We use this for security, fraud and abuse prevention, rate limiting, and diagnosing problems.

How We Use Your Information

• Provide, maintain, and secure the Service and your account
• Sync and back up your data across your devices (paid plans)
• Process subscriptions and manage billing
• Send transactional email such as verification, sign-in links, password resets, and important account notices
• Understand usage and improve features, reliability, and performance
• Detect, prevent, and respond to security incidents, fraud, and abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your financial data for advertising.

How Your Data Is Stored and Protected

Minturn is local-first: your budget is stored on your device and works offline. When you use cloud sync, your data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on reputable cloud infrastructure operated by Cloudflare. We restrict internal access to personal data and apply industry-standard safeguards. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Service Providers We Share Data With

We share limited data with vendors that help us run the Service, only as needed to provide it:

• Cloudflare — hosting, database, and content delivery
• Stripe — web payment processing
• Apple, Google, and RevenueCat — mobile in-app purchases and subscription management
• Email delivery provider — sending transactional email

These providers are bound to protect your data and use it only to perform services for us. We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.

Workspace Accounts

If you create or join a workspace account, budget data shared in the workspace context is visible to other members of that workspace, and the workspace administrator may manage shared settings and approvals. Only share a workspace account with people you trust.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time from the app; doing so removes your synced data from our servers, subject to limited retention required for legal, security, or backup purposes. Data stored only on your device is removed when you delete the app or clear its local storage.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Minturn lets you export your data and delete your account directly in the app. To make any other request, contact us at minturn@rockymountainapps.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and operate the Service. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Children's Privacy

Minturn is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Users

We operate from the United States, and your information may be processed there and in other countries where our providers operate. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
