Decide where it goes
before it's gone.

Minturn Money is envelope budgeting for people who would rather plan than reconcile. Split your real balance into envelopes, spend from them, and always know what's actually left — without handing anyone your bank login.

What makes it different

Offline first

The whole app runs on your device. A tunnel, a plane or a dead router changes nothing.

No bank credentials

We do not ask for a bank login, and the app does not connect to your bank. There is nothing to leak.

Yours to keep

Export everything as CSV whenever you like. Cloud sync is optional and off until you turn it on.

The method

Three moves, once a month.

Envelope budgeting is a hundred years old and it still works, because it puts the decision before the purchase instead of after it.

Fund

Income arrives in one pool. You hand it out to envelopes — rent, groceries, the ski pass — until every dollar has a job.

Spend

Buy something, log it against its envelope. The envelope goes down. That number is the truth about what is left.

Adjust

Short on one, spare in another? Move it across. The plan bends on purpose instead of quietly breaking.

What it does

A budget, not a spreadsheet with feelings.

Budget

Envelopes with targets, rollover between months, and rules that fund them automatically.

Track

Transactions, recurring bills, labels across envelopes, debts and accounts.

Understand

Where it actually went, how this month compares, and what is about to go wrong.

Share

A separate workspace for a household or a side business, with roles and limits.

Envelopes

One bar that tells the whole story.

Most budget apps give you a percentage. Ours separates the two things that actually differ: what you have spent, and what is still there to spend.

  • Texture, not just colour — spent and left never blur together
  • Overspending shows up as its own colour, not as ordinary spend
  • Rollover counts as funded, so a carried envelope never looks short
All the budgeting features

Reading the bar

The same four segments appear everywhere an envelope does.

SpentMoney that has left, and was covered.
LeftFunded and still available.
Not yet fundedPart of the target with no money behind it.
OverspentPast the budget, or past the money that was there.

Periods

Months that close, and carry.

A budget period is a real object: it opens, it takes income, it closes, and what is left rolls into the next one. Weekly and biweekly too, if that is how you are paid.

  • Rollover per envelope — save up for the big annual bill
  • Weekly, biweekly or monthly cycles
  • Every past period stays browsable, with its own figures

Debt

A payoff plan that knows the interest.

Track what you owe alongside what you spend. Compare snowball against avalanche and see the date and the interest each one actually produces.

  • Snowball and avalanche, side by side
  • Interest projections and a debt-free date
  • Payments come out of envelopes like anything else

Insights

Patterns, not just totals.

Twelve months of history, the categories quietly growing, and a warning while you can still do something about it rather than a post-mortem on the 1st.

  • Overspending alerts mid-period
  • This month against your own average
  • Forecasting and pacing on Ultimate

Privacy

We do not ask for your bank login.

Most budgeting apps work by holding the keys to your accounts through a third-party aggregator. Minturn Money does not connect to your bank at all — so there is no credential to store, no aggregator in the middle, and nothing for anyone to breach.

  • Your budget lives in a database on your device
  • Cloud sync is optional, and off until you switch it on
  • On-device encryption locks the sensitive fields behind a passphrase
  • Usage analytics stay on the device — amounts are never in them
  • Export everything to CSV, any time, on any tier
How the data actually works

Learning

The app teaches the method.

Thirteen modules of short, slide-based lessons built into the app — foundations, the envelope system itself, using the tools, and the habits that make it stick. Four are free.

Reviews

None yet. We would rather say so.

Minturn Money is new, so there is nothing here to quote — no rating, no press, and no borrowed enthusiasm. We cannot wait to hear what you make of it. Tell us at minturn@rockymountainapps.com, and the good ones will end up on this page with a name attached.

Questions.

Does it connect to my bank?

No, and that is deliberate. You enter transactions yourself, or import a CSV. It means a little more typing, and it means we hold no credential that could be stolen. If automatic bank import is essential to you, we are honestly not the right app.

Does it work offline?

Completely. The app is offline-first: everything lives in a local database and the interface never waits on a network. Cloud sync, on the paid tiers, catches up when you reconnect.

What happens to my data if I stop paying?

It stays on your device and you can still export it to CSV. You drop to the Free limits for adding new things, but nothing is deleted and nothing is held hostage.

Is the free tier time-limited?

No. Free is free indefinitely — 10 envelopes, 50 transactions a month, local storage. The 14-day trial is a separate thing: it unlocks a paid tier so you can try sync and the rest.

Can my partner and I share a budget?

Yes, on Ultimate. It gives you a separate shareable workspace — not a merge of your personal budget — that up to four other people can join, with roles, per-member spending limits and approval workflows.

Which platforms?

It installs as an app on iOS and Android, and runs in any modern browser as an installable PWA. Same codebase, same data, synced if you want it.

Give every dollar a job before the month starts.

Free to start, no card. 14 days of everything if you want the rest.
